The Manitowoc Public Utilities Water Department has begun unidirectional water main flushing of the water mains.
This process removes settled particles and cleans the mains throughout the City. Customers may notice reduced water pressure, large volumes of water on streets, and/or discoloration of water for a short time.
Water usage is not recommended during these times and if there is a need to use water, first run the cold water to remove any particles from your system. It is also advised to avoid laundry during this time as sediment in the water may cause staining.
Customers within flushing zones will be notified via mailer or letter and crews will post signs in flushing areas while working.
