Searchers from several agencies were using sonar equipment and divers in a search for a human body or body parts in the Fond du Lac River Wednesday.
A caller reported seeing what looked like a human hand in the water.
That brought the Fond du Lac police, firefighters, deputies, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources out.
The search had started Tuesday night and resumed Wednesday.
When nothing was found, Fond du Lac police closed the investigation.
The person who made the report had been using a large magnet to clean debris from the river when they thought they saw a human hand in the water just south of Johnson Street.
