A 55-year-old man accused of killing a University of Wisconsin student in 2008 has been found competent to stand trial.
David Kahl faces a charge of first-degree intentional homicide in Brittany Zimmermann’s death.
Dane County Judge Juan Colas heard from a medical expert that Kahl could understand court proceedings.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 15th.
Kahl is already in state prison, serving time for repeated drunken driving.
His D-N-A has been matched to evidence found inside Zimmermann’s downtown apartment.
