An accused killer has pleaded not guilty to charges he killed a man in Marathon County last December.
Jared Carl faces a charge of first-degree intentional homicide and is being held on a $1 million cash bond.
The body of 20-year-old Christian Schauer was found in the McMillan Marsh near Spencer December 29th.
Carl initially said his father was the one who shot Schauer to death.
Investigators say the father did know about the alleged murder and he has been charged with helping cover it up.
Jared Carl was charged when Audrey Benson told police he was the shooter.
Carl is scheduled to return to court in August.
