The Manitowoc American Legion baseball team got its’ season underway in a very impressive fashion last night at Municipal Field.
The Legion squad with a full complement of players after the extended WIAA season shut out the Ashwaubenon A’s 10-nothing on a 5-inning no-hitter by Manitowoc Lincoln junior Ashton Portmann.
The right-hander allowed just 2-baserunners, a hit batsman, and on an error while throwing only 62-pitches.
Meanwhile, Post-88 backed him up with a 10-hit assault including a home run, double & 3-RBI’s from Hilbert senior Ridge Guyette as well as 2-hits and 2-runs scored by Brillion’s Carter Stebane.
They enjoyed a 9 run’ 4th inning.
The Manitowoc Legion returns to action tonight hosting Kewaunee County. The 17-and-under game starts at 5:00 followed by the 19-and-under contest at approximately 7:30.
