Brandon Woodruff gave up just three hits and a single run in seven dominant innings at Arizona Wednesday afternoon, leading the Brewers to a 3-2 win.
He also drove in his team’s first run with a single in the fifth inning that broke a scoreless tie.
Tyrone Taylor and Jace Peterson had two hits apiece for the Brewers. Caleb Smith was the losing pitcher.
Keston Hiura returned to the lineup to go hitless in two at-bats. He replaces Daniel Vogelbach who went on the injured list.
The win moved Milwaukee into first place in the National League Central Division standings, a half-game ahead of the Cubs.
Milwaukee is off today (June 24th), then starts a home series against Colorado Friday.
