Sixth District Congressman Glenn Grothman has introduced “Dillon’s Law” in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The bill, authored by the Republican from Glenbeulah, will incentivize states to allow “good Samaritans” to save lives by allowing them to use existing federal grant money for preventative health services to train individuals to carry and administer epinephrine.
As you may know, the bill was inspired by Mishicot native Dillon Mueller, who tragically passed away in 2014 at the age of 18. Dillon was stung by a bee and slipped into a coma from anaphylaxis, unable to receive epinephrine in a timely manner.
Versions of Grothmann’s bill have already been signed into law in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Indiana through strong bipartisan support.
The lakeshore area representative commented, “Dillon Mueller’s passing was a tragedy. No parent should have to endure the loss of a child, and that is what Dillon’s parents, Angel and George, are working to prevent.”
Grothmann added, “This bill isn’t limited to children, however. The legislation incentivizes states to properly train individuals to administer the substance from the adrenal gland to someone experiencing a severe allergic reaction.”
