The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office has recovered the body of a seven-year-old drowning victim from the Pecatonica River.
Deputies responded Saturday night to a report of a child who had gone missing near a bridge over that river near the Village of Woodford.
The victim and two other young children had entered the river near a boat landing.
She was swept away and her companions weren’t able to reach her when the current pulled her under.
The girl’s name hasn’t been released.
Her body was found at about 2:00 a-m Sunday.
