The Manitowoc Family Aquatic Center, like all other aquatic facilities around the nation, is experiencing a shortage of lifeguards. As a result of this staffing shortage, Dan Koski, the Director of Public Infrastructure announced that their current operating hours are no longer sustainable for the remainder of the pool season.
Effective, July 1st, the new hours of operation will be noon to 7:00 pm Tuesday through Sunday.
They will however continue to have Tot time on Mondays from noon to 4:00 pm and Early Bird Lap swimming from 6:00 to 8:00 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Mini Golf will also continue to operate from 10:00 to 8:00 pm.
If you currently have a group scheduled to come to the facility or a shelter rental while they will now be closed, the Recreation Office staff will be contacting you in the next few days to adjust your event.
There is also an event entitled After Hours at the Pool planned this summer at the Aquatic Center.
After Hours is a musical series for adults aged 21-and-over, with live music is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on June 30th, July 14th, and again on August 11th.
A release urges local residents to enjoy a laid-back, adults-only night of swimming, ice-cold beverages, and live entertainment. Performers include Two hearts, KLK Duo, and Ten Strings.
Regular admission prices apply.
