The owners of the closed Verso paper mill in Wisconsin Rapids have reportedly been approached about a possible sale.
Connecticut-based Atlas Holdings filed paperwork offering a cash purchase price of 20 dollars per share.
Verso tells the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune the offer was “unsolicited” and it doesn’t mean a deal is near.
Negotiations haven’t started yet.
The paper mill was closed last year with the owners citing changing consumer habits and the COVID-19 pandemic as the major reasons for that decision.
The move cost more than 900 workers their jobs.
