Overdose deaths soared throughout the United States during the Covid-19 pandemic, and naturally citizens of Manitowoc are concerned about the issue here.
During a recent appearance on WOMT’s Be My Guest program, Manitowoc Police Chief Nick Reimer said while he didn’t have exact numbers about such incidents, “unfortunately they’ve seen their fair share of overdose deaths.
“We do investigate those so whoever provided the drugs for those individuals we will charge them. Just like anything else with the pandemic, there’s some bad news out there, of course, and we hope that it doesn’t get to the point where they overdose either intentionally or accidentally.” Reimer continues, “But, it does happen and the pandemic certainly didn’t help there and we hope it’s get better.”
The chief said each overdose has to be investigated, adding it’s very taxing on his detective bureau but they handle it and do a great job with it.
