The Door County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who drowned over the weekend near Sevastopol as 35-year-old Manitowoc resident, Zachary B. Nessman.
Nessman was reportedly swimming at Cave Point County Park on Saturday (July 17th) and collapsed after emerging from the water.
Medical personnel transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
An autopsy was conducted by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office on Sunday, but the results are not expected for six weeks or more.
Foul play is not believed to have been a factor, as the Door County Sheriff’s Office has listed the incident as an “accidental near-drowning with medical complications.”
