The Wisconsin Assembly Elections Committee will take a closer look at the ballots cast in last year’s presidential election at polls in the state.
Republican chairperson State Representative Janel Brandtjen is promising a “comprehensive forensic examination.”
Former President Trump and other national Republican leaders have been pressuring local officials for the broader investigation. Wisconsin’s Legislative Audit Bureau is conducting a review at the same time.
President Biden won Wisconsin’s electoral votes by just over 20,000 ballots. Brandtjen says the work is meant to restore faith in the state’s process, not to change the outcome of the November election.
