A Milwaukee County judge is scheduled to rule later today (July 28th) on whether to charge former Wauwatosa Police Officer Joseph Mensah for killing a Black man.
This involves a legal process rarely used.
A county prosecutor already determined Mensah was justified in his actions when he shot Jay Anderson Junior to death five years ago.
The judge is taking a closer look at the case through a process known as a John Doe proceeding.
Mensah is also Black.
He said he shot the 25-year-old Anderson when he reached for a gun.
