The Milwaukee Common Council has given its approval to a $627,000 settlement with former Police Chief Alfonso Morales.
The agreement comes after a lengthy legal battle dating back to last summer. Morales has 21 days to sign off on the deal.
The Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission demoted Morales last August.
A judge later reversed the commission’s decision saying the chief had been denied due process.
Fitchburg Mayor Aaron Richardson confirmed Tuesday that Morales is one of four finalists to become that city’s police chief.
