At the Wisconsin Triple-A American Legion Baseball Tournament, Superior nipped Manitowoc 4-to-3 at Plover yesterday (July 27th) to advance to the winner’s bracket in the double-elimination tourney.
Legion Post 88 (13-and-6) has another game later today against the loser of last night’s first-round game between Racine and Plover.
Manitowoc starting pitcher Jacob Gallagher took the loss after giving up 4-runs (3 of them earned) on 4-hits over the 1st 3-innings.
Relief pitchers Josh Uhlhorn, Brandon Stephany, and Zach Marten combined to allow 2-hits and a run over the final 3-frames to limit pitch counts, allowing them to make further appearances in the state tournament.
Offensively, Ridge Guyette, Marten, and Stephany had 2-hits apiece while Carter Stebane was 1-for-4 with 2-RBI.
