The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation visited Manitowoc today to officially announce the rollout for the Main Street Bounceback Grant Program.
Governor Evers announced in April that $50 million in funding would be provided as part of his administration’s $600 million investment in support for small businesses —especially those hit hard by the pandemic.
Deputy Secretary and Chief Operating Officer Sam Rikkens says, “It’s providing $10,000 flat grants to those entrepreneurs and businesses who are seeing some of those commercial spaces close due to the pandemic and are sitting empty. We hope this will give a little boost and incentivize those like many have in Manitowoc to start a new and be welcomed back into downtown corridors.”
Mayor Justin Nickels says it means a lot for the WEDC to make the announcement in Manitowoc.
“We’re making a conscious effort to help small business to revitalize our historic downtown. The fact that the state came to Manitowoc shows that we’re putting ourselves on the map especially with this program to help small businesses get started.”
Several local and state dignitaries made stops to PetSkull Brewing —the first business to open in the newly created River Point District, Pizza Garden, and the Union Square mixed-use redevelopment site on York Street. For more information log onto wedc.org.
