Bail is set at $1000 cash for a 37-year-old Manitowoc man facing multiple charges following an altercation with police last (Thursday) night. Daniel L. Davis is charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Threats to Law Enforcement, and two counts of Battery To Law Enforcement.
Officers were summoned to a residence in the 900 block of South 36th Street around 8:30 p.m. for a potential overdose. They were told that he may have overdosed on heroin and was completely drunk. Officers said the man was incoherent and unable to answer basic questions. Several warrants were issued for his arrest and became uncooperative before finally being placed in handcuffs.
The suspect was taken to Holy Family Memorial Hospital for treatment when he became extremely agitated proceeding to thrash, kick and pull away from police and EMS Personnel. the altercation left two MPD Officers injured adding he was going to kill and murder everyone. He was eventually restrained and taken to the County Jail without further incident.
Conditions of bail are that Davis maintain absolute sobriety from drugs and alcohol-Possess no controlled substances and report to The Manitowoc Police Department for photos and prints within 72 hours of release. Davis remains in the County Jail with his initial appearance set for Monday afternoon at 1:30.
