As part of the Manitowoc Police Department year-round public safety effort, Chief Nick Reimer says they are once again joining the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign beginning tomorrow.
“It’s an effort for the state to help us out and some extra enforcement out there. We handle a lot of calls for service and sometimes we don’t get out to the traffic enforcement calls the way we like to but this gives us that opportunity. A real important program to help us keep the roads safe.”
There were 6050 alcohol-related plus 2200 and 50 drug-related crashes last year in Wisconsin and a combined 257 lost their lives. Reimer emphasizes this is not just about stopping, citing, or arresting drivers it’s about saving lives and preventing injuries. Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” runs through Labor Day (September 6th).
