All students, staff, and visitors in Manitowoc Public School buildings are now required to wear masks effective immediately and until further notice, due to the continuing threat of COVID-19.
Superintendent of Schools Mark Holzman announced his recommendation to families in the district late yesterday afternoon, following a noon school board meeting.
Holzman explained that he believes, based on data from healthcare professionals, “vaccinations remain a key mitigation measure, but doesn’t see them becoming mandatory.”
The mask mandate does not affect athletes and spectators involved in outdoor sports, but it does impact indoor events such as Swimming and Girls Volleyball.
Seehafer News was told that no actual vote was taken by the school board on the subject, but rather the rule was implemented based on the support of the superintendent’s recommendation.
