Mary Lettenberger, 93, a Port Washington resident, formerly of Manitowoc, passed away on August 16, 2021, at Lasata Care Center surrounded by family.
Mary was born on June 3, 1928 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late John and Ida McDonnell. Mary graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1946.
On November 6, 1948 she married Earl Lettenberger in Manitowoc. After raising their family, Mary enjoyed traveling with her wonderful husband Earl. They were fortunate enough to travel to many places. Cruises were wonderful and air travel enjoyable. Mary grew up with seven brothers and enjoyed sports all of their life-she and Earl enjoyed going to numerous sporting events over the years. Mary golfed, played ping pong and swam well into her 80s.
Survivors include sons: Chuck (Debbie) of Port Washington and Fred of San Jose, CA; daughters: Connie (Tom) Geiger of Picayune, MS and Julie (Chris) Kutil of Muskego, WI. Mary had nine grandchildren that she loved very much: Tricia (Bill) Weisensel, Brenda (Charlie) Noble, Krystal (Stephen) Chang, Ashlee (Brian) Moore, Dustin (Megan) Lettenberger, Tracy (Michael) Rohde, David (Missy) Kutil, Amanda (Ben) Uher and Alyssa (Mike) Adrianson. Mary was also blessed to be a great-grandmother to eleven: Emma, Jenna, Whitney, Brady, Grace, Henry, Stevie, Lillian, Luna, Beatrice and Ava. Also surviving are sister-in-laws: Nancy McDonnell and Fran McDonnell of Manitowoc, Sally Lettenberger of Michigan and several nieces, nephews and friends including special niece, Patsy (Jack) Bestwick of CA and friend Charlotte Kutil of Manitowoc.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate Earl; brothers: Peter, Arnie, Pat, Kenny, Earl, Harold and Jim McDonnell; sister-in-laws: Jean, Delphine and Vi; and brother-in-law: Delmar Lettenberger.
Mary’s family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Mary over the last two years. Thanks also to Lincoln Village in Port Washington for caring for Mary while she was a resident there. Special thanks to her neighbor Bill Hansen for watching over Mary while she was living on her own in Port Washington after Earl passed away.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 South 14th Street, Manitowoc. Funeral services will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Ben Johnson. Mary will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Manitowoc at a later date.
