LeRoy F. Borths, age 90, longtime Two Rivers resident, died peacefully Sunday night, August 29, 2021 at Tender Reflections Assisted Living of Manitowoc.
LeRoy was born in Manitowoc on January 16, 1931 to Felix and Anna (Henry) Borths. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. He then served his country with the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953 as a Medic during the Korean War. After honorable discharge from service he returned home and was united in marriage to Rose Mary Meyer on June 26, 1954 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Rose Mary preceded him in death on June 21, 2019. LeRoy worked for Mirro Aluminum Company where he was known as the “Candy Man” for nearly forty years, retiring in 1994. He also worked several part-time jobs in his retirement including Smitty’s Tree Service, City of Two Rivers Rec Department, various painting jobs, and as a flagman with Wisconsin Public Service. LeRoy remained active his entire life, enjoying hunting, fishing, playing dartball and horseshoes, miniature bowling, couples Friday night bowling, gardening, and relaxing at the Trailer Park at Hilltop in Crivitz.
He is survived by his three children: Kathleen and Richard Wondrash, Guy and Dawn Borths, Barbara Borths and partner, Anthony Burish, all of Two Rivers; four grandchildren: Kristian (Gina) Wondrash, Tamara (Brian) Hooker, Cynthia (Jason) DePas, and Douglas (Kristin) Borths; two step grandchildren: Amber Wachowski and Adam “Bud” Wachowski; adopted granddaughter: Meredythe Torres; great grandson, Ethan Wondrash and step great-granddaughter, Allison Schneider. He is further survived by a sister & brother-in-law, Sandra (Frank) Bezemek of Necedah; sister-in-law, Dorothy Borths of Algoma; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Anna Borths; father & mother-in-law, Henry and “Grandma Mary” Meyer; a great-granddaughter, Emmah Rose Wondrash; siblings: Alice (John) Napiezenski, Henry (Angie) Borths, LaVerne (Frederick) Hansen, Dolores (Emil) Grall, Marcella Amell, Maysel (Ervin) O’Dell, Russell (Darlene) Borths, Marvin (Doris) Borths, Ralph Borths, and Clifford Borths; and by a brother-in-law and two sister-in-laws.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning, September 3, 2021 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd. Two Rivers. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. David J. Pleier, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military graveside honors will be accorded by members of the American Legion Post #165 and VFW Post #1248 of Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Friday morning from 8:00 until 9:45 a.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.
