A 17-year-old Mishicot teenager was sentenced Thursday to twenty years in prison for his role in the death of his foster brother Ethan Hauschultz more than three years ago.
Manitowoc County Circuit Judge Jerilyn Dietz also ordered Damian Hauschultz to spend ten years on probation when released on a charge of reckless homicide. Six other charges were dismissed.
Ethan was one of three siblings in foster care of his great uncle Timothy Hauschultz and Tina McKeever Hauschultz in their rural Manitowoc home. Court records indicate that in April of 2018 Timothy Hauschultz ordered Damian to supervise Ethan’s punishment which lasted approximately an hour and included beating him, forcing him to carry a 45-pound log, and burying him in the snow.
Police responded to a call from a local hospital about a boy who had suffered injuries indicative of child abuse including head trauma and a broken rib to which Ethan did not survive.
Timothy Hauschultz remains in the County Jail and goes to trial in December on eight charges including felony murder while Tina McKeever-Hauschultz was sentenced earlier this year to five years in prison on felony charges of Child Abuse and Failure to prevent great harm.
