People will potty train their pets like cats and dogs, but researchers are now seeing if they can train cows to do the same.
A new paper published in the journal Current Biology says German researchers are trying to train cattle go to the bathroom on a surface where their excrements can be collected and treated to reduce ammonia emissions.
The study says in just a few weeks, 11 of the 16 cows were able to regularly relieve themselves in a designated area.
The system, called MooLoo training, is intended to keep waterways clean and cut greenhouse gases.
The researchers hope this training can be adapted and used at outdoor farms.
