Several local and area agencies responded to a house fire late Friday morning (September 17th) in the Town of Schleswig.
Kiel Fire Department Public Information Officer Kyle Preissner says crews were dispatched just before 11 a.m. to a residence located at 19735 Highway 57 for a report of the back of a house on fire.
Upon arrival crews encountered heavy smoke and flames from the rear of the home. Suppression efforts began immediately-and the blaze was knocked down within ten minutes.
A resident of the home was able to evacuate however one individual was treated for possible smoke inhalation and released.
Crews remained on scene for two-and-a-half hours conducting overhaul and salvage operations.
No estimated dollar damage amount is available at this time and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Assisting on scene were Fire crews from Valders, New Holstein, Ada, Collins, and Elkhart Lake along with New Holstein First Responders Town of Schleswig Constable, WE Energies, Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department, and the Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center.
