Robert A. Cichantek, age 86, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.
Bob was born on August 6, 1935 in Manitowoc to the late Andrew and Ella (Pozorski) Cichantek. He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country overseas in Germany until his honorable discharge. On October 1, 1960, Bob married Helen Theodoru at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Bob worked at Manitowoc Engineering for 33 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of Silver Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Serra Club of Manitowoc County, Knights of Columbus Council 710, Manitowoc Fish and Game, YMCA, Round-Ups Square Dance Club, and was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts. Bob was also a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic minister and funeral server. One of Bob’s greatest joys was travelling with Helen. They went on Mediterranean and Alaskan cruises along with the Canadian Color Train and the Northeastern fall color tours. Above all, Bob enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his family and friends – especially his granddaughter, Telleha.
Survivors include Bob’s wife of nearly 61 years, Helen; two sons, Daniel “Trapper Dan” Cichantek, Manitowoc, and Thomas Cichantek, Green Bay; granddaughter, Telleha Cichantek and her boyfriend, Travis Nienhaus, Racine; brother, Donald (Yvonne) Cichantek; sister, Nancy Howell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law to include: Erv Kettner, Alex (Susan) Theodoru, Ken Kaniasty, Rita Bertler, Richard (Marlene) Hartman, Donald (Diane Klein) Hartman, Helen Anderson, Eugene (Jan) Hartman, and Karen Hartman; special nephew, Michael Kettner; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ella Cichantek; three sisters, Janet Leitermann, Pauline Kettner, and Patricia Thorison; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francis and Pearl Hartman; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law to include: Francis (LaVerne) Leitermann, David Howell, James Thorison, Richard Bertler, Alexis Kaniasty, Joanne Hartman, and David Hartman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum. Military rites will be accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731. A luncheon will then follow at City Limits. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com.
