The Manager of the Manitowoc County Airport says they had an excellent weekend with Ryder Cup traffic, even above EAA week.
Bryan Linger tells Seehafer News they sold “a lot of jet fuel to pilots, Ryder Cup spectators and even to one of the European players who flew into the Manitowoc airport.”
Linger added, “there was a positive buzz all weekend with passersby taking pictures of the larger aircraft on hand.”
He estimated there were 60-to-70 planes stopping here from September 22nd thru 26th including a mixture of charters & private jets, the largest of which was a Gulfstream 650 that measured 100-feet long and had a wingspan of 100-feet.
Linger said the airport was ‘very’ busy on Friday with 22-planes landing in Manitowoc, adding the demand for car rentals to get to and from Whistling Straits was high, restaurants were kept busy and hotels were filling up.
The local airport became busy when the Sheboygan County facility reached capacity and we are only 10-minutes farther from Whistling Straits.
