Mark T. Herman, age 53, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life peacefully after his courageous fight with brain cancer, while surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Mark was born on February 5, 1968 in Manitowoc to the late Thomas Herman and Patricia (Kreisa) Knox. After attending Lincoln High School, he completed his education at Lakeshore Technical College where he then began working as a moulder at Eck Industries. From antiquing to home improvements, Mark was a born entrepreneur at an early age. Mark found his passion and later established his own business, Recycling Pros, where he provided recycling services to his local communities. On October 16, 1988, Mark married Maria L. Downing at the old Niles Church in Pinecrest Historical Village. They began to build their family with four beautiful children.
Mark was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He touched so many lives just by simply being in them. He was a problem-solver and found tranquility in his ability to help those around him find their way. Mark would give the shirt off his back to anyone who was in need. He always found a way to pay it forward whether it be buying breakfast or groceries for the next person in line. He was the most generous, giving and caring human being. He had the biggest heart. Mark’s compassion lied within being with his family. Sunday dinners and walks around the block with his grandchildren were the light of his life. One of Mark’s simple pleasures was being able to light up the sky with his yearly firework show for the Fourth of July. Lastly, he believed that the best part of the day was enjoying a beautiful sunrise, and then a perfect sunset with that special someone, his wife, Maria.
Survivors include Mark’s wife of 33 years, Maria; four children, Tanya (Clevin) Hady, Manitowoc; Terra (Adam) Behnke, Green Bay; Tiffany (Jacob) Holschbach, Manitowoc; and Mark (Heidi) Herman, Manitowoc; six grandchildren, Haven, Michelle, Grayson, Lucas, Kenley, and Grant; also another grandchild on the way; his other “kids”, his dogs Sona and Beau; stepfather, Robert Knox, Manitowoc; four siblings, Denise Herman and special friend, Chad, Jamie Knox, Amanda (Sean) Cordova, and Melissa Knox and her fiancé, Ryan; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Herman and Patricia Knox; brother, Robert Knox Jr and mother in law, Nancy Downing.
