Manitowoc Lincoln sophomore Olivia Minikel captured the #1 Singles title at yesterday’s Sectional meet in Kohler to advance to the WIAA State Individual Tennis Tournament.
Minikel will compete at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison starting Thursday, October 16th.
Olivia swept all three of her matches at the Sports Core, defeating Sierra Bellue of Green Bay Southwest 6-0, 6-0, Kimberly’s Julia Gurholt 6-0, 6-1, and then Alex Madjun of Appleton North in the championship, 6-2, 6-2.
The Ships #1 Doubles team of McKenna Pleus & Hannah Dvorak dropped their first match yesterday, 7-5, 6-4, to an Ashwaubenon duo.
As a team, Lincoln finished 8th with 10 points while Ashwaubenon won the Sectional crown to move on to the State Team Tournament, also at Nielsen October 22nd and 23rd.
