Bail was set at $50,000 cash for a 26-year-old Manitowoc woman after admitting to trying to kill her boyfriend.
Shanice A. Petersen is charged with Disorderly Conduct with A Domestic Violence Enhancer and First Degree Endangering Safety.
Manitowoc Police Officers responded to a residence in the 2100 block of Madison Street early Monday afternoon on a report of a person who may have shot themselves.
Petersen told officers upon their arrival that there was a dead person inside the home. It turned out that her boyfriend was uninjured with Petersen admitting that the two were fighting and she had thrown his things around the home.
He had locked himself in the bathroom when she decided to grab a .45 caliber handgun and aimed at where she thought he was hiding.
She told police she had every intention of killing her boyfriend by pulling the trigger three times; however, the gun failed to fire each time due to a previous round failing to extract from the gun.
Conditions of bail are that Petersen has no contact with her boyfriend or their residence. She remains in the County Jail with an initial appearance scheduled for November 1st at 1:30.
