The Reedsville Panthers defeated The Black Hawk/ Warren Illinois Warriors 30-12 in a Division Seven Football Quarter Final Playoff game in Reedsville Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers dominated from start to finish scoring four rushing touchdowns and Head Coach Aaron Frederic was impressed by his team’s physicality.
“Very rarely do you have a November day like this where it’s beautiful and nice so if you’re built to pass and you have a bad weather day you’re going to be in trouble so we’ve got to be physical to get where we want to get,” Fredrick said. “It’s won in the trenches.”
Senior Quarterback Brennen Dvorachek had touchdowns runs of 86 and 30 yards, Senior Weston Leibzeit had a 9-yard rushing TD, and Senior Cole Ebert found pay dirt from 3 yards out.
He said the offensive line deserves all the credit.
“They’re the ones who make the holes for us to go through,” he told Seehafer News. “You have to give them some of the credit. It’s a great feeling to set the trend right away and run a couple of yards.”
Junior Ryan Taddy led the defensive with three quarterback sacks.
He told us that he was successful because “Last week I went to watch them in the Hilbert game and I saw they have bigger tackles but I’m a smaller guy. I got to be faster than them just get my first step and go right by them.”
The victory improves the Panthers to 11 and 1 and they have a date with Cashton, a 15-6 winner over Potosi/Cassville in the state semifinals Friday night.
Dvorachek says he’s ready.
“I think we’ve come very prepared,” he explained. “We are not going to take anyone lightly. We know that they are a great opponent just like we are going to be a great opponent for them. We got to be crisp in practice and be ready for them.”
Friday night’s game will be played at Ripon at 7:00 PM.
The other half of the bracket Friday brings together (Eau Claire) Regis and Coleman at host school DC Everest.
The two winners play for a Gold Ball at Camp Randall Stadium on Thursday, November 18th at 10:00 AM.
