No one was injured overnight in Two Rivers but evacuations were necessary following electrical fires that involved two separate fluorescent light fixtures.
Fire Department Acting Captain Zak Peterson said the first call to Meadow View Assisted Living at 4606 Mishicot Road came in shortly after 11:30 last night. Flames were put out with a fire extinguisher by TRPD after which ventilation was conducted to remove smoke from the building.
The second call in came about 5:15 this morning involving a 2nd light fixture in the same breakroom. The plastic housing on the fixture fell, landing on a plastic cart in the room, setting it on fire before flames spread to a wall.
Captain Peterson said the sprinkler system activated and extinguished the blaze upon their arrival. All occupants of the assisted living facility were evacuated during the second event and placed on a bus from Two Rivers Bus Company.
There is minor fire damage to the structure and its contents with water damage due to the activation of the sprinkler system. Damage is estimated at $20,000 dollars and the fires remain under investigation.
