The latest idea being pursued as Milwaukee continues to deal with reckless driving is a program called “Twenty is Plenty.”
Now, the baseline speed limit in Wisconsin’s largest city is 25 miles an hour if it’s not marked.
The Department of Public Works is suggesting that be reduced to 20 miles an hour. Other cities have already done something like that.
“Twenty is Plenty” was started in Madison last summer.
Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman is a hold-out.
He wonders if drivers will pay attention.
The change could be discussed at the December meeting of the Milwaukee Public Works committee.
