A 41-year-old Manitowoc woman was recently sentenced to life in prison for her role in the death of a three-year-old child in 2018.
Manitowoc County Circuit Court Judge Robert Dewane also ruled that Jaime L. Schrank could be eligible for extended supervision in 25 years.
A jury this spring found Schrank guilty of Repeated Acts of Physical Abuse of a Child Causing Death, Chronic Neglect of a Child, and Possession of Methamphetamine, all of which are felonies.
Court records indicate that on July 22nd of 2018, Schrank and her live-in boyfriend, 50-year-old Eduardo Gamez, were watching the child along with their 5-year-old child at their home.
Both defendants admitted they were smoking meth with the children present.
The 3-year-old was admitted to a local hospital where the boy died from severe external and internal injuries.
Gamez was sentenced last year to 12 years in prison.
