Second Assembly District Representative Shae Sortwell of the Town Of Gibson has accused NextEra Point Beach Power Plant in Two Rivers of seeking to “violate employees medical freedom.”
NextEra, an energy supplier based in Florida, has outlined a prospective, COVID-19 vaccine mandate on its employees at the Two Creeks facility.
Sortwell points out that Next Era can’t have vaccine mandates on its employees in Florida due to legal protections, but similar protections are not outlined in Wisconsin law due to a previous veto by Governor Tony Evers.
The Town of Gibson Republican states in a news release, “It’s sickening that the nuclear power plant in Two Rivers would infringe upon people’s medical autonomy and also disregard their requests for personal, medical, and religious exemptions. Over the last few weeks, I have been contacted by many Point Beach employees that are terrified of losing their jobs because they refuse to be forced to inject themselves with the coronavirus vaccine. I call on the company to do the right thing and maintain medical freedom for all of their employees, regardless of zip code.”
