Poinsettia plants with red and green foliage are commonly used in Christmas floral displays.
Tom Hartman of Hartman’s Town and Country Greenhouse tells Seehafer News they grow about 20 different varieties. “Lots of natural colors and we also do some painting,” Hartman said. “We’ll take a white poinsettia and we can paint it blue or lilac or turquoise, yellow, or orange to match whatever décor you’re trying to match at home.”
Hartman says regarding poinsettia care at home, “What I would recommend is take your plant, put it in the sink, take the pot cover off, water it thoroughly, let it drain, and put the pot cover back on. Or, if you’ve got a saucer under it you may want to punch some holes in that pot cover.”
The local plant specialist says if you have the plant in the house in a natural light area, keep an eye on the watering and they’re going to last for a long time.”
