The Next Era Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant in Two Creeks announced yesterday that they are postponing their COVID 19 vaccine mandate on its employees until May of 2022.
Second Assembly District Representative Shae Sortwell of Gibson stated earlier this month that the Florida-based energy provider can’t have vaccine mandates on its employees in Florida due to legal protections, but similar protections are not outlined in Wisconsin law due to a previous veto by Governor Evers.
Sortwell tells Seehafer News that he recently was informed that Next Era was postponing the COVID-19 vaccine employee mandate out of concern for their employees.
In a news release, he stated “I thank the company for its delay. It’s a nice Christmas present for the power plant’s employees to keep their medical freedoms for at least another four months.”
The local legislator added “I urge them to make it a permanent policy to respect the medical rights of their employees past the new deadline. I will continue to have conversations with them on that matter going forward.”
