Authorities have released the name of the suspect charged with robbing the Manitowoc Boost Mobile Store last week.
32-year-old Alex Goines Junior of Chicago is charged with Robbery by use of a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of cocaine with intent to deliver while armed and 3 counts of a Felon in Possession of a firearm.
Manitowoc Police responded to a call of a robbery at the Manitowoc business in the 1200 block of Washington Street late last Thursday afternoon.
It was determined that Goines showed up brandishing a handgun, demanding that an employee and a customer go into a room filled with merchandise. Goines proceeded to steal several iPhones and got away with an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing on foot. Yesterday (Monday) a search warrant was executed for a residence in the 1300 block of South 15th Street by the Manitowoc County SWAT Team.
A subsequent search uncovered merchandise stolen from the Boost Mobile store, a handgun along with large quantities of cash and base cocaine that was packaged for sale. Goines, who has a history of aggravated robbery in Illinois, was taken into custody without further incident.
Jefferson Elementary and Washington Junior High Schools went into a temporary lockdown out of an abundance of caution.
No one was hurt. Goines is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing tomorrow afternoon.
