Bail was set at $25,000 cash each for two Manitowoc women who were in the care of an infant child that suffered severe injuries.
23-year-old Samantha Ann Jordan, the child’s mother, is charged with Neglecting A Child causing Great Bodily Harm while 53-year-old Kristine Ann Jordan is also charged with Neglecting a Child Causing Great Bodily Harm and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Officers with The Manitowoc Police Department responded to a call from Aurora Medical Center last Wednesday after a child was admitted. Both women told officers that the infant was consuming very little, then eventually, no formula, so they brought the child to Aurora.
Samantha admitted that both she and her child when born tested positive for cocaine adding that she had done a couple of liners the week prior. A subsequent search of the child’s residence uncovered a smoking device used to inject crack cocaine.
The child was transported to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee and was initially given a 1 percent chance of survival.
There’s been no update provided on the infant’s condition. Conditions of bail for Samantha Jordan include no contact with the victim, maintain absolute sobriety, and not to possess any controlled substance.
The lone condition of bail for Kristine Jordan is that she is to have no contact with the victim. Both defendants remain in the County Jail and are scheduled for initial appearances on January 24th at 1:30.
