Bail was set at $1000 cash for a 26-year-old Manitowoc man, facing multiple charges in connection to an incident last week on the city’s southside.
The County Clerk of Courts Office says that Kyle A. Mesna, who’s on a probation hold, refused to appear for his bail hearing for a third time this afternoon (yesterday) on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, carrying a Concealed Weapon and Obstructing an Officer. As a result, Circuit Court Judge Mark Rohrer set bail and Mesna remains in The County Jail.
A Manitowoc Police Officer was on patrol the night of January 12th in the 800 block of South 24th Street when he saw a vehicle leave a residence, known to be associated with drugs. The driver failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of South 21st and Washington prompting a traffic stop. The police report noted that the passenger (Mesna) was acting suspicious and gave a false identity. After a positive hit for drugs was given by K-9 Major, Mesna and his backpack were searched with officers discovering nearly 14 grams of meth, several items of drug paraphernalia and a set of brass knuckles.
He is due to return to court for a preliminary hearing January 26th.
