Manitowoc County Health Officer Stephanie Lambert has revealed the COVID-19 numbers for this week.
She told Seehafer News, ”In the last seven days there’s been an additional 867 confirmed and 38 probable cases of COVID among Manitowoc County residents…Unfortunately, 10 additional deaths have been reported in the last week. The cumulative county total (since the start of the pandemic) is now 19,160 cases and 165 deaths.”
She added that there’s been some good news in that the seven-day average of daily cases is 129, a 22 percent decrease from last week.
The hospitalization remains high in the Northeast Region of the state, averaging 208 over the past week.
Lambert also added that while unvaccinated people remain in the minority in Manitowoc County, they account for over 80 percent of deaths county-wide.
“Each week hundreds of people in Manitowoc County get their first COVID-19 vaccine. It is not too late,” she said. “Cases remain high and the vaccines continue to offer protection against the latest variant. If it’s been more than five months since your last Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or two months since your Johnson & Johnson vaccine, you can get a booster shot to protect you even more.”
