Fun was had by many Saturday at the Smiling Moose in Osman as the 3rd Annual Porta-Potty Races were held to benefit Lakeshore Foster Families and Friends. Molly Stolp is president of the board for LFF and race coordinator.
She told us this year’s event was their most elaborate to date.
“We added a lot of extra features, and we had nine racers,” she explained. “I would say it’s a pretty good turnout.”
Kid’s Gear placed first on a cold but sunny day.
As for the continued need for Lakeshore Foster Families and its’ services, Stolp explained “There’s a huge population in Manitowoc County of foster kids and kids in kinship.”
Kinship is when children are placed with a loved one, such as a grandparent.
Stolp explained that the money raised from the event will go to “keep supporting the foster parents and keep them doing what they’re doing. They are the ones taking kids on a moment’s notice and we want to make sure they have all the resources so they can continue doing what they’re doing.”
Stolp thanked the Smiling Moose and its’ owner, Cheryl Vogel, who had the tents set up and arranges the band so it’s a team effort. Seehafer Broadcasting was a major sponsor.
