A 28-year-old Manitowoc man was arrested on two counts on felony bail jumping, but not before police were called to his location after 911 dispatch reported hearing “a lot of screaming” and “sounds of demon activity.”
A report filed by Manitowoc Police notes that the call came in close to 5:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Police responded to the scene where the woman who called authorities said that she woke up at around 2:00 a.m. hearing her son and another visitor had been yelling and acting erratically.
She said that the two were not fighting but were praying and yelling about demons. In fact, the caller worried that the two were “possessed by demons” and called 911 to get medical attention.
When police attempted to talk to the female guest, she was silent except for the times when police note that she “would tense up her body, extend her limbs, and start hissing.” Police requested emergency medical attention.
The caller’s son was sweating heavily and “his actions were jumpy.” He occasionally spoke to officers, but on several occasions stopped talking to sing and pray to God.
At one point, he laid flat on the floor with his face “one inch from a bible and began reciting scripture.” He said that he and the female guest were simply reading the Bible earlier that evening before waking up in the middle of the night “acting like this.”
Authorities suspected that they were under the influence of methamphetamine, but both denied consuming any drugs or alcohol. Eventually, the behavior of the pair calmed down and authorities did not deem them to be a danger to themselves or others.
That said, the son had two open felony cases and was under arrest for bail jumping. He cooperated with officers and was turned over to jail staff, facing two counts of felony bail jumping.
