A famous French farce full of laughs is set to take the stage at the Capitol Civic Centre starting this evening.
The Masquers, Inc., in its 91st season, will be bringing Boeing, Boeing to the Capitol tonight, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. each evening.
Boeing, Boeing is set in the 1960s, centering on French playboy Bernard, who lives in Paris and enjoys the company of three stewardesses who are all his fiancées. The twist? None of the three know about each other due to their conveniently alternating layover times between flights.
That’s where the story becomes as complicated as it does hilarious.
Ellen Peronto, who plays Bernard’s sassy housekeeper, spoke to Seehafer News, noting that the scenario is ripe for obstacles not just because of the three fiancées but because of technology creating scheduling havoc.
“Boeing was coming up with their faster engines, so what was that causing? Faster flights; everything moves fast!” She added, “Truly, trying to handle three fiancées? You know there’s going to be complications!”
Phil Jindra, the show’s producer, told Seehafer News that the character of Robert, played by Jerry Lewis in the 1965 film adaptation of the play, could be considered the main character of the show.
“He’s always on-stage! Everything’s always happening around him as these women are coming and going, as Bertie the maid is telling him where to put his bags. ‘Nope, not that room, not that room, that’s her room,’ and Bernard is coming and going. Robert is just caught in this huge whirlwind of events.”
For the Friday showing, attendees are invited to arrive an hour before showtime to hear information from Jindra about the show’s production, information typically not shared with the audience.
