Bail is set at $1500 cash for a 48-year-old Manitowoc man accused of assaulting his girlfriend Sunday night.
Tyrone R. Carter is charged with Battery and Disorderly Conduct, each with Domestic Violence Enhancers, Obstructing an Officer, and two counts of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
Officers from the Manitowoc Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1300 block of South 12th Street after 7 p.m. to perform a welfare check.
The victim told them that Carter had hit her, which was why she was covered in blood.
He told officers that he was on a bus to Cleveland, but as it turned out Carter was still inside the home, and he was eventually taken into custody by the Manitowoc County SWAT Team.
The lone condition of bail is that Carter have no contact with the victim.
He remains in the County Jail with an initial appearance scheduled for Thursday morning at 10:30.
