Lakeshore Technical College has announced plans, for the first time, to offer Associate of Arts and Associate of Science Degrees in the fall.
LTC President Dr. Paul Carlsen says that through a new partnership with UW-Green Bay students graduating with either degree will have guaranteed junior standing when they enroll at Green Bay to pursue a four-year degree.
The General Studies degree programs require 60 credits, including elective courses that allow students to select courses that appeal to their future career plans. Once final approval is secured from the college’s regional accreditor, students enrolling to obtain either degree will be able to access federal financial aid and veteran’s benefits while taking their general education courses at LTC.
Dr. Carlsen expounds on this new partnership by saying, “These new degrees, combined with our partnership with UW-Green Bay, are a game changer for our students and our communities. Students will have thousands of dollars on their way to a bachelor’s degree. Partnerships like this will directly raise our region’s educational attainment rate.”
UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander adds, “We are proud to continue to develop our collaboration with Lakeshore Technical College. Our partners at LTC are doing tremendous work and we are thrilled to be building a stronger educational ecosystem in Northeast Wisconsin with them.”
Approval was granted at a meeting Friday of The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents. For more information log onto the LTC website.
