The Chief of Police in Appleton has announced his retirement.
Chief Todd Thomas has been the man in charge of the Appleton Police Department for the past seven years.
In a written statement, Chief Thomas explained that the timing was right as numerous other department leaders are planning retirements in the coming years, and new contract negotiations are scheduled for next year.
The Appleton native got the job as Chief after serving with the Green Bay Police Department for 14 years and was a community service officer with the APD while he attended Fox Valley Technical College.
He will remain in his position through the end of 2022.
