Authorities in Chippewa Falls have labeled the death of a 10-year-old girl a homicide.
Lilana “Lily” Peters was reported missing Sunday night at about 9:00 p.m.
The family said she hadn’t returned from a visit to her aunt’s home.
Her bicycle was found near a walking trail.
Chippewa Falls Police Chief Matthew Kelm says the girl’s body was discovered Monday morning at about 9:15 a.m. not far from where the bike was discovered.
Kelm said at a news conference that the girl’s death is being investigated as a homicide and there “may be a danger to the public.”
There are no known suspects.
The victim was a fourth-grader at Parkview Elementary School in Chippewa Falls.
