In order to create as little confusion as possible, the Manitowoc-Calumet Library System needs to announce to the public that its telephone Renewal Line is going to be discontinued at the end of May.
Due to technological changes within the MCLS system, this phone service for the public libraries’ renewal line —previously available by calling 920-686-3051—will be phased out by the end of May. Patrons of the member libraries in Brillion, Chilton, Kiel, Manitowoc, New Holstein, and Two Rivers (Lester) can renew their items by calling their local library or renew online at: http://bit.ly/1hpRCCE.
Additionally, to access your library account or to search for items available through the local libraries, you can search the online catalog at https://mani.ent.sirsi.net/. Our libraries are also able to provide materials that are available throughout a network of libraries in Wisconsin. The statewide catalog can be found and searched at https://www.wiscat.net/.
With this in mind, it’s important to note that the mission of the Manitowoc-Calumet Library System is to ensure access to high quality public library services for all residents of the system area—to coordinate planning, cooperation, resource sharing, and application of information technologies among member libraries, and to provide services that support, improve, and promote the member libraries.
The services that our library system provides for the local libraries and therefore, the library cardholding patrons, include:
- Access to the online catalog and library software
- Online databases, available both in the libraries and remotely
- Internet and Wi-Fi service at all MCLS libraries
- Delivery of materials among the six library locations, as well as three books drops (located throughout Manitowoc and Calumet Counties in Hilbert, Mishicot, and Whitelaw)
- Interlibrary loan delivery of items throughout the statewide library delivery system
- Access to Wisconsin’s Digital Library catalog of e-books, e-audiobooks, and e-magazines through the OverDrive/Libby app.
Additionally, MCLS’s community efforts include facilitating the provision of books for the “Reach Out and Read” program at participating pediatric clinics, the annual “Battle of the Books” for Teens, and engaging with patrons of all ages through library promotions such as the National Library Week Poetry Contest in April and the Library Card Signup Month Raffle in September.
