The Two Rivers City Council discussed and approved various applications for street projects through the State Department of Transportation at its work session meeting Monday night.
City Manager Greg Buckley says the DOT is soliciting funding for road projects during the fiscal year 2023 through 2026 that comes from the Federal Bi-partisan Infrastructure Bill.
“We’ve identified projects with a roadway cost of about $7 million, but with utilities added in about $14.6 million,” Buckley told Seehafer News. “We will apply for all of those and see how we fare, and with the major spending that we’re going to see going on for streets and infrastructure as a result of that bi-partisan bill, we want to do everything we can to get dollars here to the community for investing in our infrastructure.”
Buckley is concerned about all this federal spending.
He told us that in Wisconsin alone, about $1 billion is being spent on infrastructure projects, which he feels is going to “create some real stress as far as the ability to get projects one because it seems all of the design consultants and contractors out there are pretty busy right now.”
Applications must be submitted to the DOT by June 3rd.
